Apologies for the long hiatus. To make up for that, I shall give you a long post.
So many things to talk about. Where to begin? Well let's start with our beloved
Canucks. Seriously, did anyone think that we would actually win the series 4-1? How come a 1-0 Stars lead seems insurmountable? Where are the
Sedins? Wonder twin powers...ACTIVATE dangit!! It's going to be another close one on Monday. Who's going to win? Might as well just flip a coin.
I just finished hosting a three week practicum with 4
BCIT Airport Operations students. They all did really well but having them day in and day out for 3 weeks made it really busy for me. To make things worse, it's been just crazy at work these days. I'm working on some pretty neat things for the summer. I'll share those secrets in a few months from now.
Well there are lots of fun things to look forward to this week. Of course there is the
Canucks game on Monday but also the return of Heroes! I'm really looking forward to see how the season ends up.
Also, it's the beginning of the blockbuster movie period. Spider-man 3 opens up on the 4
th of May! I can't wait!! Following that,
Shrek 3 and Pirates 3 open up in successive weeks. Then there's the
Simpsons movie, Die Hard 4, The Transformers, and Fantastic Four 2. It should be a good summer for anyone
in touch with their inner child. Just waiting for a He-Man movie, G.I. Joe movie, and a Saved By the Bell reunion movie. Oh Screech, what happened to yee?
Susan and I have a few musicals to watch too. We're seeing 42
nd Street next week and then watching Rent in Seattle on Mother's Day. We were supposed to see The Mystery of Edwin
Drood this weekend but due to some scheduling conflicts and car emergencies, we didn't make it. I'm very disappointed that I missed it as I know quite a few people involved with the show. I'm sure they did a wonderful job though.
Next weekend, we're off to Victoria to see the Titanic Exhibit at the BC Provincial Museum. It should be a fun little road trip. I haven't been to the Island in a long time. It will be very cool to see all those artifacts. Can't wait.
In mid-May I get to emcee my church school's gala auction with my friend Kristin. It should be a lot of fun. We don't get to be the auctioneers, but we will get to so some singing and dancing.
What else? Oh yeah, I won a pair of Mickey Ears AND a pin set from Disney as a part of their "A Year of Million Dreams" contest. I received the hat the other day but I'm still waiting for my pins. I'm still hoping I'll win something big though.
Oh, Susan and I rented Little Miss Sunshine and Happy Feet last week. SPOILERS AHEAD.
We were pretty disappointed by both. I know there are lots of people out there that just loved these movies but we didn't. Little Miss Sunshine just didn't speak to me although the end was sorta cute. I just didn't think that Alan
Arkin deserved to win Best Supporting Actor. He probably had like 3 pages of dialogue and played dead for half the movie. It should have gone to
Djimon Hounsou for Blood Diamond, which IMHO, was a FAR superior film in every way. Happy Feet was cute I admit, but I just got tired of the premise of singing and dancing penguins after a while. I thought I would really like it but alas maybe I was in the wrong mood. I'm not sure I really liked the end message either. At the beginning of the DVD they showed a short message about conservation in our oceans. But at the end I wondered if the humans would have helped the penguins if they didn't sing and dance en
masse. Are they not worth saving even if they just stand there? And what's with
portraying whales, leopard seals, and elephant seals in such a negative light? I just thought the message of conversation and respect for all animals could have been portrayed a little better. But whatever, that Mumble was pretty cute so maybe I'm reading too much into it.
END SPOILERS
Well that's about it. Lots to do in the next little while but at least it's starting to feel like spring. The world seems a lot more colourful to me these days. Hope the flowers in the garden start blooming soon!
Thanks for reading and until next time...
